Death To Sony

You know, I look back on all the video game systems that have been produced over the last 2 decades, and I have to say, Sony is by far the worst. Why is it that a multi million dollar company has to make such shitty products? Theres no reason for it, NONE at all. You could take a Super Nintendo or N64 and chuck that fucker down the street, have it get hit by 4 cars and run over by 9 semi’s and the bastards would still work. You breath wrong near a Playstation and the thing is broken. Now, it’s not only the shitty products they produce, but sometimes the product themselves…for instance, the PS3 is bombing right now…you wanna know the main reason why? Because no one, (right now anyway) gives a shit about blue-ray. At first, they wanted to use stamp technology to virtually stamp each game so it would only work on your Playstation….first of all ass fucks, thats an invasion of people’s privacy, and piracy.ANY movie, music cd, or video game you buy, you OWN, and you have every legal reason to back that up. So don’t you fucking tell me if bought your $800 piece of shit that I can’t lend games to anyone, or trade them when I’m done with them. Well, they didn’t do that anyway, because of a lot of 2nd and 3rd party developers were going to back out on Sony if they did.You wanna know why? Because most companies make their money from business’s that rent out games.Blockbuster, Gamefly, Family Video, just to name a few. But whats pisses me off the most…the controller. All they did was re-design the same crappy controller that they have used since the PS1, and made it wireless. Here’s a hint for Sony, and ALL video game companies…wireless controllers are nothing new. The Atari 2600 had a wireless controller. Don’t believe me? Pick up the new issue of Game Informer and see for yourself. And they want to charge $30 (probably more for the wireless controllers)? I don’t think so. I own a psx and a ps2, not because I like the system, but because I love the games.Thats all the Playstations were EVER good for, were the game selections. I know companies make mistakes, but it’s like I always say about people…Everyone makes mistakes, but when you do repeatability, it’s on purpose.

Now Sony’s bitching because the xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii are outselling them…

Heres a few hints for you.

Make better games.

Make a new controller.

lower the price.

Fuck off.

That is all.

This has been StraTT, bitching once again.

  1. Well I won’t deny you that Sony is charging too much, and that there are many flaws with their system. Unfortunately I do have to comment on the fact that while a consumer does in fact own the disc they purchased, you in no way own the software contained there in. It is licensed to you. It is how Bill Gates made all his money. Licensing means that you actually own nothing at all and at any time if the manufacturer wishes to they can come into your house and take it back if they feel you are misusing it or if they want to redesign it.

The fact is it is generally accepted that a consumer can make a back up copy if they want, it is all because of the VCR laws, but legally if a company wanted to, they could come take all of your copies since they still own the software. That isn’t just Sony, that is any one.

My other major counter point is your statement about the controllers. You should say that there hasn’t been a decent controller aside from one’s produced by Nintendo since the N64. The X-Box, Playstation and Dreamcast all had ridiculously huge bulky controllers, and hell, the Dreamcast controller looks like you could impale children upon it.

I firmly belive that within the next few years that Sony will end up like Sega merely making ans licensing games and the Microsoft’s $32,000 a piece X-Box will die out leaving only the Wii and some new competitor. This at least makes me happy because look at when games were truly their greatest…When you only had Nintendo or Sega to choose from and creators really had to step up their games.

This was a good article. I dug it a lot.

  3. Video games are not my forte, and I am by no means defending Sony in the video game market, but they do make great video cameras. They have picked up the mantle thrown down by The Flanneled, Hairy Asshole One (George Lucas) to tirelessly develop High Definition video capture. Frankly, without Sony developing 24 frame per second HD cameras*, we would have missed out on a bunch of films that wouldn’t have been possible, namely the new Star Wars films (I know, real big loss) but more importantly Sin City and other new work by Robert Rodriguez (and a lot of high quality indenpendent film that would not have been produced otherwise because they couldn’t afford film).

*For your reference: Video cameras used to record at 30 frames per second. However, film is exposed to light at the rate of 24 frames per second. The two are incompatible, and video didn’t quite look right. So companies had to develop a camera that would mimic the rate of speed of film exposure without messing up the speed of action onscreen. Sony has beeen the champion of this movement.

  4. Well it really isn’t about Sony as a company. Most of the electronics I own are Sony, and I have no problem with them at all, it has always been a reliable brand. It’s down fall is the same though not as bad as Microsoft’s or in the last generation of video game platforms, Sega. If you look back, the NES went what? At least a good ten years with out a major rival, and the Nintendo company had been in business for around 100 years making various toys and games as technology would allow then eventually developed video game systems for at least a solid ten years before launching in America, now manufacturers are in a rush to see who can get the newest systems out the fastest with the most new tech crammed into it. Of the last generation cf consoles, I have to say console-wise Sony is probably only second to the Gamecube. The X-Box weighed 987 pounds and would sometimes fall on small children crushing their legs. As far as games go X-Box still takes last place because again Microsoft tried to push everything out and only cared about graphics, so you had shitty games that looked nice. The only game that ever made me want an X-Box was Halo, and now that the X- Box 360 is out I am sure I can buy it, Halo and Halo 2 for the dingleberries I have caught in my ass hair. Unfortunately as far as games go Gamecube went down. I don’t know why Nintendo feels it has to constantly go for a lower and lower rating. Making statements that they won’t put out a game with a rating greater than “T”. I hope they changed this policy because the WII really does look like a great system.

X-Box X-Box 360 and Microsoft as a company can stick their nose in my ass. They haven’t made a decent product since windows 3.1x
