This week is a special treat as we have not one, but five Kickers of Ass. Those Kickers are Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson, none other than The Kids in the Hall.
Some colleague and I were sitting around talking about different comedy skits and bits from movies, t.v. shows, albums and live performances and what we soon discovered is that we were talking almost exclusively about Kids in the Hall. We spent about three hours just bringing up random lines from the show and the best part was that every one present remember the entire skits and would riff right along.
Sure there may be a ton of skit comedy troupes out there, but few ever achieve the level of success of the kids, and of those only a handful have such memorable bits. In all honesty I would say that rare honor belongs to the Kids, The State, and Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The reason I think the the Kids shine above the other two is because EVERY skit makes me chuckle and is just as funny today as it was 15 years ago.
Between the t.v. show, the movie, the few reunion gigs and the live performances, the Kids are one of the funniest groups of people alive.
