Movie View: In The Name Of The King – A Dungeon Siege Tale

So what do you get when you cross a half way decent cast and a plot based off of a video game? A SOMEWHAT decent movie.

First off, let me just say that this movie isn’t as horrible as everyone says it is.It is not terrible…it’s somewhat watchable.Jason Stathom plays a character named Farmer, who takes revenge on the Krungs, horrible creatures that killed his son, and kidnapped his wife (Claire Forlanie).

So it’s an action adventure type movie. They set course for vengeance and find out secrets along the way.Secrets I won’t tell you because it might ruin the movie for you.

Now, the movie isn’t exactly the film of the year. But what do you expect…it’s based off of a video game. Name me one movie that is based off of a video game that won an Oscar. The acting is a little stiff and kinda cheesy…and the special effects are like second rate Star Wars…It’s a simple movie with a simple plot and some fighting. It has a pretty decent cast.

Ron Perlman (hellboy), Mathew Lillard (Without A Paddle), John Rhys-Davies (Lord Of The Rings) , Ray Liotta (Goodfella’s) and Burt Reynolds to name a few.

So if you like “ok” cheesy type movies based off of video games set in medevil times, then this might be something you will enjoy. If not, i’d steer clear of it. Because it may waste you time.Would i suggest going to a theater to this? Ummm, no.Wait for the DVD…which i’m sure will be out soon.

5 out of 10.

  1. I have a few bones to pick with you. Well namely one bone. How do you mention John Rhys-Davies and not mention he IS Sallah in the Indiana Jones series. instead you credit him for LOTR in which he only did a voice over. I poop on you.

Also, I can’t believe you took the time to watch this shitty movie. Next thing you know you’ll be reviewing “The Eye”

  2. that is a great cast! cant wait to see it
